About the Southwest Grotto Association
The Southwest Grotto Association (SWGA) is a vibrant regional organization dedicated to fostering fun, fellowship, and foundation among the Grottoes of the Mystic Order of Veiled Prophets of the Enchanted Realm (M.O.V.P.E.R.), commonly known as “The Grotto.”
Serving the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Tennessee, the SWGA brings together Master Masons who are Prophets in good standing for memorable gatherings, shared experiences, and meaningful connections. Our Association strengthens individual Grottoes by promoting fraternal bonds, enhancing ceremonial traditions, supporting local initiatives, and creating opportunities for good, clean fun and lasting friendships.
Who We Are
- Rooted in Tradition: As part of the international Grotto movement founded in 1889, we embody the spirit of the “Master Mason’s Playground” — a place where serious Masons come together for lighthearted camaraderie, laughter, and brotherhood outside the formal lodge setting.
- Focused on Fellowship: We organize an annual convention (typically in the spring) featuring business sessions, social events, ceremonial work, and plenty of opportunities to build relationships across state lines.
- Committed to Service: Through humanitarian efforts, support for our member Grottoes, and alignment with the Supreme Council’s values, we contribute positively to our communities while prioritizing our members’ enjoyment and well-being.
Our Mission
To further the organization and development of Grottoes in the Southwest, create closer fraternal and social relationships between Prophets and their local bodies, improve ceremonial sessions, and assist in addressing challenges — all while upholding the highest standards of the Mystic Order of Veiled Prophets of the Enchanted Realm.
